Through the kitchen window I did see

Two birds high in the sky

Passing each other

As they went on bye

Flying against the wind

 

Twist and twirl

Round and round

In a game of

"Catch me if you can"

Playing with the wind

 

Wings outstretched

Like two gliders

Stationary they hung

Away they sailed

Riding on the wind

 

They returned

From whence they left

Catch me if you can

The games began again

Playing on the wind

You gave me some delightful imagery with your words Wild Rose. I could picture this scene so clearly. Those birds taking nature as it comes, playful in the wind. We on the ground, moaning about it (lol). We can learn much from mother nature. Have a good week-end.

Thank you Christine - was washing up at the time - Suspended it - didn't go for the camera but they were high and just discernible as Peregrines by they shape as the glided away rain clouds moved in to follow

I had to chase a Peregrine out of the garden last week It had gobbled up all of the food for smaller birds & was sitting in a tree waiting to get some warm live food > We did have one pulling a Blackbird apart one day - video came out blurred from the window it had focused on

Nature, it can be so cruel. I would have found that so very difficult when the blackbirds is such a giver of song and delight.

We have lived and walked the fells around here for so long, this is the first and only time I have seen them playing like this > Had a video of two Robins fighting in our back garden - A vert cold spell _ I put two piles of food one each side of the path - They accepted a pile each

The whimsical, not-a-care-in-the-world tone make me smile, and the imagery make it seem like I was watching it right in front of me! The poem also makes me think of parallels in life similar to the events that take place in "Playing On the Wind", like how it could be a metaphor for the dating game, or just interactions we have with others in general. Beautiful job.

What a memorable morning of September 21 it was. The flight of birds reads like a courtship dance.some birds mate for life. It is always a wonderful feeling watching nature doing its best. Thank you for sharing your lovely experience with us

Thank you - Yes it could have been a courtship dance - think most of the birds of prey do mate for life . they also return to the same nest (home)

Though thousands of miles separate us, the wind has been blowing here, too. As the leaves fly around, the birds perform interesting maneuvers. I think the robins have flown south, but a few hummingbirds still visit the feeders on my patio. Soon, they'll be gone, I know. Bird watching is good for the soul, I think. A fine poem is this, conjuring delightful images.

We have a resident robin, blackbidrs have been away but some have arrived now for winter we hope> Also this morning a flock of Goldfinches two dozen or more around one of the feeders

Locally we get geese (various types) on the lakes for winter & 20 mile across the Solway Firth is a nature reserve where they get thousands
