Walking by the shore

Walking by the shore

A Poem by Wild Rose

Walking by the shore

21 July 2019

11:57

Walking by the seas edge

Incoming tide lapping at our feet

Each tide closer

Jump to dodge the waves

As the lap ever closer

Ever higher

Watch the swell out in the deep

Dwindling as the close in

One foot

Six inches

On the sands

With a swish sh sh

As the land

Tumbling pebbles

Cickety click

Receding wave

Back down the sand

To join the swell

Sh Sh Sh

Clickety Click

Wave and pebbles

Each wave pushing us higher

Away from the sea

Closer to the land

Go back

You land people

Where you belong

I love your dynamic raw-sound-rich writing that conveys the sensations of walking on sand that's being pulled from beneath one's feet by lapping waves. Everyone knows that feeling (if they've walked on the shore) & you make it effervescent & recognizable! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
