Four weeks to Christmas

She says "lets get off early to beat the crush"

Fifteen minutes after opening

The car park is full; we get the last disabled space; the furthest from the doors. That is no problem just get the electric shopping scooter out; face masks, off she goes to the shop doors; I collect a shopping trolley.

Shelves are all ell stocked - even the toilet rolls.

Salad: veg; pork chops for tea; chicken for tomorrow

So it goes on; milk, bread, frozen chips & fish, cans of soup for sons dinners (he is working most of the hols - so is his GF)

Oh dear it is so hard to breath in these masks and my specs are steamed up

I cannot understand a word you are saying behind your mask

Oh yes I took my mask of to wipe my nose, the mask makes my nose run > Yes I will wash them when we get home

 

At the cash out we have to wait

She takes our bags to the far side while I load the conveyor belt

More Card, shopping voucher payment card

All through a tiny gap in the plastic screen

 

Oh how nice to take these masks off and get some nice fresh air in my lungs

 

Lets get home unpack and have a warm drink

I believe in following the covid rules, but at the same time, I choose to stay home alone rather than to actually do it myself. I have no desire to go thru this & you've put it out there so modestly. You're not complaining, but just expressing how relieved you are to be done with the whole mask excursion. I like that you don't criticize the need for doing it, but I totally sympathize with you for the discomfort of it. Lots of people say, well, we have to wear seat belts in cars -- but a seat belt isn't strapped around your mouth. I find it highly distracting just to watch people try to breathe in a mask, looking exactly like you describe it -- almost like suffocating -- sweating -- fogging up! You make this sound like exactly as much fun as I have been thinking it would be, if I had a strong enuf desire to go out into the world & find out! I love your gentle sense of humor, making fun of this, but not to the point of ridicule (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

No Margie I have not met anyone who likes to wear a mask
My nose gets a drip, my spec mist up, breathing is like (I think) an asthmatic may live with, Cant work up a sweat - to doso would lead to heavier breathing.
BUT! We do have to eat food
Great when you get out of the shop and can remove the mask
We go early when there is hardly any other shoppers > Yesterday the car park was full
One good point was they didn't have a queue to go in - If there had been a queue we would have gone bak home
Oh & I didn't have to push her wheelchais - we got the electric scooter out

Like you, I shall be glad when this virus is killed off and we can all go about our business without wearing a mask. If it were Summer we could all go out wearing masks and nothing else! Now, that would be fun!
