Wake Up Call

Wake Up Call

A Poem by Mazie
"

Unconvential shakespearean sonnet. In the midst a world being consumed with war, what is most important?

"

A single voice amidst the crowded words

Of peoples’ sayings, empty, loud and strong

Without a thought, as bold and untoward,

A whisper calls in silent shattered song.

Let trumpet blast the word of fools and cons!

In spotlight, stop for all the world to see;

Now hoist the idols, gods and prophets gone,

Decrepit seed of humans’ earthly greed.

Forget the hungry, poor, deprived;

Let rot our wealth, of green and blue divine,

Misuse our gifts for Evil’s great divide

A leech upon his neighbours withered vine

Fear not! We have a plan to save the race

Let us break free then find new worlds afar

Abandon this, remains of what we waste,

Why mend a world of gaping, bleeding scars?

It’s better far to fight for wealth and pow’r

Than cease the war, where all will be devoured.
