Save Me

Save Me

A Poem by Tammera

Her shirt is torn

Her pants are ripped

I didn’t see her today

She probably skipped

She knows all the answers

She just never likes to share

The teachers never call on her

Although they know it’s unfair

There’s no parental supervision

There’s no food on the table

She’s beyond the point of hunger

She would help herself if she was able

She finally came back to school one day

Jagged lines dancing on her arm

Her wrists looked like shredded paper

Her clear eyes full of alarm

She never shared her problems

She never expressed her issues

She never even shed a tear

She didn’t need any tissues

I could never relate to what she went through

I could never comprehend

I don’t even think she knew my name

But she was my very best friend

She slipped a letter in my locker one day

That was the last of her I ever did see

I ripped it open and read it through

Her words of choice “Save Me”

Very nice poem. I like the word choice. You could use more imagery in this poem but overall very nice.

great job.
