You

You

A Poem by Cyali

As I watch the moon slowly travel acrost
The endless abyss of the nighttime sky
I revel as my mind's eye awakens
Showing naught but visions of you and I.

I close my eyes and let out a breath
And let my mind wander free;
Up up and away, so far from this place,
To a somewhere I'd much rather be.

I fly higher and higher, as fast as I might
Amongst the stars and begin to dance;
I twirl and I glide and I lose myself
As my mind plays your voice in rhythmic chants.

I float through the clouds and feel at peace,
Having left my worries far behind.
Time begins to lose all meaning
As sweet thoughts of you fill up my mind.

The trees whisper our names as I begin to descend,
And the wind sings softly of love.
I alight on the shore of a majestic lake
Lit brilliantly by the shimmering full moon above.

Another voice joins the rapturous chorus,
And as I turn my heart backflips.
I see you standing there before me;
A small smile tugging at your lips.

I move slowly 'crost the verdant grass,
Needing to reach out and touch you;
Not believing my eyes that my hopes
And longings had finally come true.

But as I approach I am torn away;
I struggle and scream out your name.
My heart slowly sinks as I watch you fade back
Into the fog from whence you came.

The charcoal clouds block out the moon
As in darkness I'm pulled back through the skies
Until the sharp light of day cuts through
And I grudgingly open my eyes.

The sights around me are familiar,
Set afire by burning sunbeams.
I sigh wistfully and try to recall
The sweet serenity of my dreams.

My vampire story is going to be a total scrap and re-do. Twilight kind of killed vampires for me... On top of that, going back and reading it years later made me realize how poorly it was developed an.. more..
