A Poem by D. Gabrielle Jensen

Named for the Native Americans
Who lived there before,
And still after,
The White Man came.
The ghost of a cloud
Of steel smoke lingers against San Isabel
To the south.
Stories of the famiglia;
Refugees from 1940’s Chicago;
Bringing with them
Dirty money and miraculous food.

D. Gabrielle Jensen
Found this on my hard drive. It was for a challenge, to write about the city where we grew up. I'm pretty sure it's not finished but I am not sure what else to say.
