When the Clock Strikes Nine

When the Clock Strikes Nine

A Poem by ArchaicDreamer
"

When the Clock Strikes Nine...

"
Words whispered in my ear
disappear with my fear
Overwhelming scares are mine
they come when the clock strikes nine
They show vivid images of death
of people's never-lasting, deadly breath
And when the clock strikes nine again
I see those desperate, hungry men.

I like how this whole poem is sort of open to interpretation, you could imagine a number of scenarios. What I imagine is death haunting you, it's the last breath that scares you. Fear of the unknown plagues all of us, and you do a wonderful job of expressing it. The use of a clock acts as a marker or a trigger so to say, which triggers these fears, for it's night when the clock strikes night. I hope I don't sound too confused, I do feel like this a bit. Thank you for sharing :)
