In the Eye

In the Eye

A Poem by Sarah Jane

There is beauty in the way
Streetlights illuminate falling snow
Especially at night
A silent ballet recital to see
As it blankets the earth and all

There is beauty in the sprouts
That line the trees during spring
Especially in the morning
When the birds sing their songs
And the Earth smells sweet

There is beauty in the water
As it shimmers during summer
Especially in midday
The sun beams down on the waves
As they ripple with reflection

There is a beauty in the trees
Come fall and they bare themselves
Especially in the evening
When the clouds are colorful
And the sky is a mural.

There is a beauty in just about
Anything.
If you look hard enough.

And there is beauty in the way this poem identifies with the naturalist in each of us. It's very soothing to read with an ever so slight admonishment at the end. Perhaps we all need to look harder for the beauty and the good in our world and in each other. I enjoyed the read.
