Tsunami

Tsunami

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Tidal waves made of glass
And lined with clouds of foam
Caress the delicate balance of life
In this place you call your home
Pregnant with intentions
And swollen with ill fate
Entranced with such beauty
The sea spreads it's waves alate
Moments of foreboding silence
Moments to breathe
Watching the ocean unfurl
While it's wrath is unsheathed
In a split second of clarity
A blink of your eyes
I'm stumbling down corridors
To save what is mine
The seafloor is spreading
Coral reefs reaching my feet
Like a virus spreading wide,
Organic and man-made accrete

I will find you first
Before the water drowns
These tethered hearts
Underground
