Evaporation

Evaporation

A Poem by Sarah Jane

Quiet statements in between silence, anticipating rebuff.
I will fade so that you need not.
I will release, cease to exist to your overwhelming eyes.
Before I witness your shadow bid its elusive farewell.
I am dripping pixels one by one as to not be noticed
All while hoping you notice.
I will not wait any longer waiting. I will fade first.
Will you miss me? Still feel me in between rooms?
Within the seconds before sleeping?
While you watch yourself brushing your teeth,
Will you look for my reflection?
Would you sense me in the warmth of the sun?
Pack me away in the furthest corner of your mind.
Shuffle me along the pleasant and fleeting memories.
Where I hope I belong.
Find me when you drive to work, when your eating.
When you decide which shirt to wear or spot your shadow.
I will always be somewhere, just not here anymore.

This is incredible writing! I agree with J the B (below), very under-appreciated. Thank you for reviewing me so I could find your writing. Not only do you have something to say that's provoking & multi-layered, but also you pay attention to the lyrical quality of putting words together. I love the title word & your poem stands up to it well. I almost felt this narrator fading or doing her best to fade. Even tho you paint her as being so realistic & recognizable, every single line is popping with fresh originality (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Wow, you're so kind! Thank you. I am humbled!
I believe someone has not been properly appreciated and is serving notice. A series of questions are posed, each dripping acid. If the guy does start missing her, too bad. She knows she has made a bad bargain and is cutting her losses for good. Write him off to experience and bon voyage.

PS: do a spell check on line 4, words 6 and 7.
