Fit for a King

Fit for a King

A Poem by Sarah Jane

I have mouth sores that sting
Like your backhanded compliments and
I've been the swallowing shards
Of your overabundance of chances
But I stilI smile with forgiveness, that
I can't comprehend, running down my chest
While you eat it up and ask for seconds.

This is jaggedly truthful! The first 2 lines creates the kind of slap-my-face opening that so many poems lack. I love the creativity of your observations & your way of word-painting them. (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
