A Mother's Scorn

Fire gaping from my mouth
Flames licking my eyelids
Heat radiating from my hands

For a world where my children
Would not need such resilience
In a world too cold to care

For my mothering to be minimal
For their childhoods to last
A little longer

Than mine did.

For them, I would burn it all.
