AND THE HEADLINES READ......

A Poem by DRIVEN
"

People magazine reportedly spent $14 million for the first pictures of Brad and Angelina's twins

"

The headlines read - TWINS OF THE SUPERSTARS
it makes the front page
in this day and age
or the one about THE CELEB SEEN IN BARS!!

You can skip over the small part
about the indian temple stampede
it's not quite the read
and it might break your heart

But people magazine
will scream out of the trials
in the supermarket aisles
Of BRITNEYS LATEST SCHEMES

Families searching for loved ones
didn't make us care enough
no bluff
reading that is just not as fun

We want to blame the magazines for their obsessiveness, but as you point out, it is really we who must bear the blame. A very well written poem.

Yeah you're right. We always tend to be repelled by tragic news and instead resort to filling our head with lighter, more senseless news to get our minds of the pain in the world. Nicely expressed.

A very sad and disturbing truth that people are more interested in the life of those "we" make famous and popular instead of being involved and interested in their own and focusing on what they need to do to make their lives and communities a better place.

The one nice fact about the $14 million - it will all go to charity where it will hopefully do some good. (That was a promise they made before offers started coming in. Hopefully they will keep their promise and be worth the spotlight we give them.)

True though - how it's a lot of people (not me - I don't buy that crap) that gave People magazine that kind of money in the first place to spend on pictures of children. I know no one paid me for any pics of mine... though mine were never and are not for sale.
