If I were a pretty girl

If I were a pretty girl

A Poem by Daffy
"

It does not matter at what stage of life we are, or how we look, life still gives its rewards.

"
If I were a pretty girl,
With sparkling eyes and shining curl,
With luscious lash and pouting lips,
And shapely bust and curvy hips.

I then would feel no better than,
I do just now, my face so wan
And body thin and ag-ed torn,
With pain and bones so weak forlorn.

My children born and grown so fair,
That follow all my thoughts and care ,
And grandchild sitting on my knee,
Enjoys old grandma's tales with glee.

(Those tales that grandma spoke to me,
When I myself, sat on her knee).

So readers please take thought and heed,
The gifts of life we really need
The gifts of life we ne'er forget,
Or else, all us, will dear regret:

It matters not what time of life,
Not trouble, stress, nor times of strife,
Each, every part of life does give,
A gift of joy that all can live!

What an uplifting, optimistic write this is. I especially liked the fact you are telling your grandchildren the stories your grandmother told you. From generation to generation (L'dor V'dor in Hebrew) means so much. Family stories are meant to go on and on. You are absolutely right, Daffy....whether we are old and gray or young with blonde curls bouncing, we have much to be grateful for in this wonderful life. Your wise life message comes across loud and clear. Truly a joy to read. lydi**
