Remembering Ice Cream

Remembering Ice Cream

A Poem by Daisy
"

This is about Alzhiemers and my gran. She remember the nicest things but has no idea when they happened. I cry for her. x

"

Childhood years

Looking at me licking

Never spill a drop

I love chocolate ice cream

I love it a lot

Eating this one handed

Little tongue outstreched

Yummy, yummy, yummy

Ice cream is the best

Oops, sick all over mummy

He he, must save some for dad too

They think I'm their little sweetie

But I know thats what I'll do!

Now getting old.....

Those days

The taste

The drips

My face

No idea of where I am

Where I may be

What I am doing

What I can see

Behind rocks we kissed

For the first time,

Never told anyone

Precious memories mine.

You were with me

Times now past,

Days I was free

Alone with you at last.

We sat on the beach,

Frollicked in the sand

Threw stones in the sea

Then you led my hand.

Behind rocks we kissed

For the first time,

Never told anyone

Precious memories mine.

Remembering Ice Cream. At first, by the title, I was thinking this should be a fun little frolic about ice cream. As I began reading the poem it was, then it transitioned. I reread it and its description, then the poem, its moments, and transitions made sense. Your grandmother had some excellent moments. Loving tribute done well.

Cheers!
Doc.

A touching poem. My dad suffered from the same disease and it is so saddening to see its effects. Thanks for the lovely write! :-)

A sad piece really although I felt you bought out happy memories which lifted your words to make them wistful...........watching loved ones fade can be so hard.

It was a cute poem and got me all dreamy thinking about the description that you did in an awsome way in your poem! I particularly loved the first part when you got all descriptive regarding the licking of the Ice cream. I am also an Ice cream lover, incidentally, the chocolate one like you described. YOu have some descriptive ability my friend, keep it up Daisy! ~KA~
