I Fall For You

I Fall For You

A Poem by Damien Thibodeaux
"

A dark love song....a Rock Song

"

I Fall For You

Death binds and holds our spirit

Like shackles of remorse…

You showed me scars that prove it

I’ll protect and hold you close

Enchanted by the melancholy

in your eyes and in the words you gave me

(Chorus)

I fall for you

I fall for you

You gave me all your secrets

And now you know,

I have one too

I fall for you

Alone in your room at night

With your blade and your pen

I grip my pillow tight

‘til I see you again

And I can only love you through these

poets’ words from half a world away…

(Chorus)

I fall for you

I fall for you

You gave me all your secrets

And now you know,

I have one too

I fall for you

Trembling from on your knees you rise to meet the end

Lying next to me with pleading eyes whispering, SAVE ME!

 (guitar solo)

I’ll lick your jagged wounds

and kiss away your tears

I’ll chase away your demons

and shelter you from fear

I want to be the morphine

that comforts you and feeds your addiction

(Chorus 2 X’s)

I fall for you

I fall for you

You gave me all your secrets

And now you know

I have one too

I fall for you

(guitar solo)

Thank you for reading and for the kind words, Philip.
This is dark, painful and beautiful. A brilliant write and would be a successful song for sure.

Thank you so much Tina! Now, if I can only find a rock composer who needs a lyricist....

My pleasure....:)........
I can feel the pull of these lyrics that desire a sacrificed tune to go through the accord with sharp verses planted to my brain...excellent work

Yes, I can hear these lyrics being sung - actually, they would work well in a few different genres. The strength of affection comes through, Damien.

So touching, I can feel the protecting love that you wish to give to another through the chords and beats that burst out your passion for one other.
Outstanding song.

This is very touching...the muse who is every present in your mind, but perhaps not at your side. I can relate to the emotions in this, and when I read it aloud, I could easily imagine it as a song. The idea of "falling" for someone has always been interesting to me, as the idea of "falling" denotes something painful or perhaps uncomfortable (at least at first), and yet that is how we describe the evocation of love. Just a little thought of mine...

Anyway, I think this was nicely done. One suggestion for flow: 2nd stanza, last line "...you gave (to) me"
