In Colour

In Colour

A Poem by Lydia Jamison
"

How I wish to see the world...

"
I wish that I could see the world
In colour.
I wish that I could see it through the eyes
Of another.

To see it from a point of view
Far beyond my own.
To see places far from where I stand,
Where I have grown.

On the highest mountain top far above
The clouds.
Shouting with the voice of thousands
Echoing loud.

In the valleys and on the hills
Of the Tuscan countryside.
Where I can watch the golden vineyards grow,
Slip away and hide.

On the rainy streets of Seattle,
Coffee in my hand.
I would watch the gray sky like no other,
The sight no longer bland.

Under the Eiffel Tower with the one
I dearly love
As we stare up at the lights spotting the dark,
Like stars above.

From where I stand now,
The world is gray.
Blends of black and white haunt me,
Dismissing the day.

If I could see the world
In colour,
See it from the eyes of
Another,

I would change my point of view to be
Different than my own.
I would choose a new place for me to stand,
A new place for my mind to grow.
