Hail Mary

Hail Mary

A Poem by A. M. Charles

“Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with Thee…”
The Lord may have been with thee, but HE was with me.
With his flashing eyes and golden hair,
Looking like a pagan god or a fallen angel,
Calling me to him with his heathen words.

“Blessed art Thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb Jesus…”
Holy Mother, you may have been blessed,
But I have been cursed. Like you my womb is full
With a b*****d child, but neither it nor I will be great.
My youth is destroyed, my future doomed.
Abandoned by HIM, abandoned by God.

“Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners…”
Sinner, yes I am a sinner, doomed to hell for surrendering
to him, the embodiment of temptation. I could not resist,
and my immortal soul is the forfeit. Yet my greatest sin is
that even now I cannot regret or forget every forbidden caress,
every fiery kiss and touch sliding over fevered skin.
Prodding me closer to hell. Hell! I am destined for hell!

“Now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.”
