My Return To You

My Return To You

A Poem by dangerbooze

Sometimes I wonder
just what it is
that you do when I'm not there
Do you think of me?

How often?
I must know!
Call me selfish or greedy
But just having you in my life
is far too precious for words

Most of the time
I don't think much of your poems
You're much more lyrical than poetic
and yet...

Your message gets to me
Be it your feelings
Or just something that crossed your mind
I adore it
More than I will ever admit aloud

Do you know
What your words do to me
how they lift me high
far too high in the sky

And leave me tumbling
through clouds of whispers
and drowning beneath a sea
of sweet scented sighs

Just the way you whisper my name
Oh, oh, my
I feel like Cinderella at the ball
and that yes, the man I see before me
the gown formed from magic
and the oddly comfortable glass slippers
are indeed quite real

And though I still worry
that the clock will strike midnight
I try to believe in this moment
That this eternal night with you
will never end.

About
I'm a lazy writer. I write what I feel when I feel like it. But to be more specific, I have a constant case of writer's block about pretty much every thought that I can think of or even consider. .. more..
