And Then I Met You

And Then I Met You

A Poem by Dani California

I noticed not how the dew carefully bathes the rose before it trickles from its petals;

Or how its limbs reach for the sky when summoned by the sun's warm breath;

Or how the gentle breeze provokes the tree leaves to dance without reason;

Or the endless compassion of each wave as it chooses to retreat;

Or the continuous melody of the birds through cold, shelterless winters;

Or how the earth's soil gives life long before it buries it;

No, I noticed not these glorious wonders that surround me every day;

And then I met you.

Love opens our eyes yet appears without summon or preparation. It's funny how what is normal perception becomes extraordinary when emotions over- rule disposition.

I don't know, Dani. Why is there not more love than hatred? Is HE that powerful? (hatred, I mean) Truth is revealed here.... within the rose, the sun, the breeze...taking root in the Earth and her gifts....

Very pretty.

It seems like a lifetime since last I noticed these simple yet eloquent things in life. This write served as a reminder as to just how long its been. I could see the rose, and feel the breeze...An absolutely wonderful piece of work. It made me smile...something I was in dire need of.
