we are all

just pieces of poems

Collections of sonnets,

stories and songs

engaged in a dance

of destiny and chance

we drift on a sea of language and lore

to wash upon a worded shore

all the while longing to find

through some generous miracle

of rhythm or rhyme

that somehow your story

has collided with mine
