In The Room

In The Room

A Poem by DannyLynne Riley

Oh how you taunt me

to cleverly unlock me

and into the dream I fall.

I am in the big house again.

 The one with many rooms.

The one where the stairway swirls

the one leading up to the room

to the secret room..

To the place I no longer visit

even disguised in dreams.

I can not bring myself to turn the lock

to open the door and bravely walk

 in...

I think that something waits for me

inside the secret room

I think perhaps it is a ghost

not a real ghost... maybe

but more like... the shell of a ghost

of a girl...stumbling and lost

I think, perhaps, she is afraid

tempest tossed

and lost..at sea

I think, perhaps, she is the haunted one

I think, perhaps, she is me

This is a stunningly haunted and beautiful write. I may be reading this wrong, but although you end with
I think perhaps, she is the haunted one
i think, perhaps she is me
that you are seeing it from the view of the lucky one. Looking perhaps, at what could have been, or once was you.
as long as you are the one viewing it, it tells me you are on the right path.
thank you for sharing this wonderful write.
oh...ps, sorry if i misread it. it's still wonderful even if i got it wrong

I really relate to your poem, feeling the depths of your soul...just knowing there are others in a shell of their former self...the shell of a ghost is even ghostly...perhaps, it is what it is, and perhaps, change is constant, the death of one self, and the rebirth of the next...time and space become relative.

Lovely inking.
