Smile A Little Less

I know this will sound a little cruel to you

But I'm afraid it's true

I sometimes wish you would smile a little less

As sometimes it doesn't make me feel blessed

If I could give you one task

I'd ask you to take off your mask

If you'd just once show me your tears

Just once show me your fears

Show me your humanity

Then I'd maybe let you see my reality

Because the harder you push with that smile

The longer I'll draw back for another while

So I know this sounds a little cruel to you

But not once have I seen you even a little blue

You just seem so surreal

That I can't let you know how I feel

So please forgive me

But that smile is all I can see

Amazing message in this poem. It can be interpreted in many different ways but the way I saw it you are telling those with depression to take off the mask they are hiding behind and show what they feel. An amazing message for those who need help.

It's true that so many who suffer from depression often hide it behind a mask of happiness. Fake smiles, jokes, laughing too easily and loudly. And yet everyone thinks that that person us so happy.
Look at Robin Williams and a few other great comedians for example. Good stuff.
