For the Boys

This is for the Boys.

For the boys that I don’t understand.

The boys that play sword fights.

The boys that hate homework.

The boys that don't care about the world.

The ones that are courageous.

This is for the Guys.

The guys that got it easy.

The guys who ask girls out on a date.

The ones that have it all under control.

The ones who are sometimes rebellious.

This is for the Young Men.

The young men who spent nights studying for the exams.

The young men who are SMART!

The ones who have a plan for a better future.

The ones that don't run after every blondie, who has curves,

but stays with that one tomboy brunette.

This is for the Husbands.

The ones that stayed true to that tomboy brunette.

The husbands that please their wives.

The husbands that don't forget the flowers every anniversary.

The ones that will apologize after an argument, even if he’s not wrong.

This is for the Fathers,

not the fathers of our country.

The Fathers that work from day to night.

The Fathers that see themselves in that rebellious child.

The ones that pay for college.

The ones who pay for the “Big-Gypsy” wedding.

This is for the Boys.

This is for the Guys.

 This is for the Young Men.

  This is for the Husbands.

   This is for the Fathers.

    This is for the boys,that I DON'T understand.

Oh my gosh! This is so awesome! I really love the fact that you made one for men based on the other one you made for women. Very beautiful! Becuase we are all human beings even if we can't understand each other. Great job!

I'm responding to the e-mail you sent me. In my opinion, this poem is very well written, and you avoided unnecessary details for the most part. However, there is one line I think doesn't need to be in the piece, and that is "not the fathers of our country". It is implied that you are not talking about them because they are not in the list of boys you don't understand. Other than that line, I think this is as smooth as it needs to be. I really like how you included not only men who don't make the right choices, but also those who DO make the right choices. Much of the time, we do wonder about both. What drives the bad people to make foolish choices, and what drives the good people to be little lanterns in the darkness of our universe? Nicely done, I mean it. :)

It's a long a challenging process. There's no doubt you'll get trampled multiple times by failure, but if you force yourself to work through the bruises, you'll do famtastic. The worst thing you can do as a writer is give up, so perservere my friend!

A haunting piece, it resonates in my mind making me ask myself how many of these traits speaks of my and how many to me. Was I one of the boys or guys, have I been one of the young men, it speaks to me and my memories. Thank you for giving me some interesting thoughts to think about, well done my friend :~)

there is lots to understand about each of us, male or female...some make a valid attempt to...

but we most often fall short. i think you really hit the mark, here...

we are often a combination of all of these personality traits.
