Love, Unjudged

Love, Unjudged

A Poem by Elizabeth

What should be the chance
of me having a forbidden romance?
The love for him that I feel
Nothing else feels more real

The feeling that I harbor
so innocent, so pure
Tarnished by the jeers
that I could everyday hear

They laugh at me
They ask me - "have I no standards?"
They don't believe what they see
call us real life beauty and the beast

But it is not him who is the beast,
but the rest of the world
With blindfolded eyes,
they don't see his worth

Their laughter in my ear keeps playing on and on
I break down and take the bait
and when I look back,
he's gone

Wonderful reading. Do we love who we love or let others decide who we should love. Freedom is such a rare thing.

Love is a treasure, love has no color, looks, but it has magic that runs deep within two hearts. Not many people gets to have that chance. I do love your poem. Thank you so much for sharing your work with everyone on this page.

Woww!! I like the message behind it. Sometimes people care way too much about what other people think about their relationship. Wonderful writing!!!!

Thank you for your review... I'm glad you enjoyed it:)
I love this! It took me way too many years to learn to tune out the thoughts of others to focus only on mine. Now it's the first thing I try to teach kids. To at least plant the seed for them to grow on their own.

True love has x-ray vision. Beauty inside is what it sees. Though your subject lost out, the self-reflection shows a lesson well learned.

Well done!

With hundreds of love poems posted on this website, & so many with similar messages, I’m amazed that I’ve never heard this approach before. I love originality, especially in love poems. I love the way you present the “beauty & beast” idea without harkening back to the movie very much, only that one phrase, but otherwise presenting a fresh true-to-life portrait of how it might feel when other people cannot see the beauty in a person so beloved to oneself (yet you don’t put anyone down for their lack of vision). I’ve always loved the scroungy dogs . . . sigh! Love the tenderness your poem conveys in between the lines (((HUGS))) Fondly Margie

So relatable ! And I m not just talking about love, we care too much about what others will think of us that sometimes we end up losing what we truly want and then regret it.Really liked the way you have written this.

Thank you so much!
unfortunately it happenes always, and unfortunately most people lean their ears to what others say not to what's their hearts say, how pure and true, how real and strong this heart's voice is, of course we are not speaking of the people who care about You and may give You some advices about Your love, Your title is great my friend, no one has the right to judge anyone or anything.

All the best for You my friend*

Thank you so much for your kind words...
No one can understand the dynamic between two people other than those two people. Really it is no one else's business. Honest words...well written. lydi**

Thank you so much!
Very honest writing......unfortunately though often when in the thick of things, infatuation can often be confused with love.....

Thank you for your review :)
Quite relatable. That happens so often.
Liked the way it ended. And it's then when you realise how important the person was to you.
Nicely done!
