Invictus

Invictus

A Poem by James Darrow

Beneath my feet lay my enemy
He was struck down and died
With his end comes serenity
For all of those who are justified

~-~

His rise to power earned by those he charmed
With great power he fell
His road filled with families whom he harmed
Many sons on their death knell

~-~

With his tyranny gone
The sun shall shine
For his evil begone
This victory is mine

~-~

My battle is won and done
To my home and family I ride
In my home amongst my loved ones
My family awaits me by their side

~-~

Homes will be rebuilt, fields renewed
Ashes no longer stain my sight
Hopes will come true, for this day is new
Now, there is nothing but light

This a great write! The character of the poem is narrating his story but in a poetic way. You pulled it off, so good job! I specially loved the last stanza. It portrays well the feeling of hope after a war. Thank you for this! :)

This sounds so much like a story within a poem, I mostly loved the sentence: Ashes no longer stain my sight. A wonderful poem. Well written.

?! Are you actually writing about a true happy ending with nothing bittersweet? This is new, coming from you, Makon. :P

In the greatest words I can accumulate this was a skillful weave that I can examine and still reach the conclusion it is flawless.
