What Ties Me Down

What Ties Me Down

A Poem by Eric Darsie
"

I sat down and started to ponder what bothers me the most, and this is what came out.

"

What Ties Me Down

We’re made to ponder, analyze, and to over-think,

But why do we read too much into something that’s untrue?

For God’s glory, originally made, I know,

But why all this? Why do we reside in a fallen world?

Answers only in time, in heaven, there will be answered

Feelings, emotions, they tie us down

We often suede towards them

Often without any consideration or thought

So hard to let it out of my mind

No matter how hard I try kicking it out

The thoughts only linger around

Sticking to the inner outing of my skull

Cemented in, only prayer can unclog that sidewalk

I can’t get you out of my head

Hope you enjoy the visit, because I’m hating it.

Haha I like it. Good use of words. I like the phrase "inner outing" and "unclog the sidewalk". Both are odd phrases that catch your eye but go well with the poem. The last line is also pretty sweet.
