The Battle Rages Within

The Battle Rages Within

A Poem by Eric Darsie
"

Something I've been thinking about for a few days, starting when I was stuck at the city library due to the rain.

"

The Battle Rages Within

Would you love me the same

If I’m completely honest on who I am?

Will I still be the same person you go to

If I tell you all that I’ve done?

Can I be truly free

And come out with all that I am?

How will I be looked at when everything’s said and done

And the past and my secrets are out?

All these questions run throughout my head

But never able to find an absolute answers

Even though a few truly know

They love me all the same

Why can’t the truth be fully released

Into what has been deemed my community?

It would bring glory to God

Because ever since the start I have been

Each and every single day

The battle rages within, yet He still wins.

My eyes are locked onto God

Nothing will unlock His glory and beauty.

I find my freedom fully in Christ alone.

I can relate to this. We live in such a fallen community that we feel like we cant be ourselves. So many people cast judgment and let the sin define the person rather than the savior. I hate this. I pray it will cease being like such.
