Silent Killer

Silent Killer

A Poem by Curtis.Lenker

there is a killer so silent it can't be taught
its been around since forever
we suffer in silence until its to late
that is when people care
silently we watch as people ignore it
unimaginable pain is what we feel
alone we suffer as if know one cares
but if they would just stop and take a second
to ask if we are ok instead of putting us down
maybe we could end the stigma of it
when we voice how we feel
we are looked down upon and told we are weak
suffering silently as we are numb
hollow inside we feel absolutely nothing
no joy, no sorrow, no laughter, no nothing
just an empty shell of what we used to be
walking this earth pretending we are okay
but inside we don't want to die or live
we just want to know that we will survive
so if I survive this silent killer
I will see you tomorrow
if not then I lost my battle
maybe it is already lost and no hope for us
living in a world  so cold yet the only home we know
a constant struggle between life and death
for this silent killer is no other than depression

Depression is a curse, so many suffer from it. What's more it is on the increase, the virus has made sure of that.Your lines describe the fight to survive the day to day when it encompasses you. Not easy. Takes huge courage to work through it, till you see that glimmer of light. Thank you for sharing.
