Faceoff

Faceoff

A Poem by Curtis.Lenker

today we met once again
like a long lost friend your gaze piercing my soul
I know what you want
but I doubt I have the strength
why now I ask as you say nothing
all you want is my blood
I have been down this road before
two paths lie ahead of me
do I take the one he wants
been down this path a time or two
or do I try and fight a loosing battle
out of this gloom I rise but to what
nothing but my impending doom
finally he speaks only one line
go ahead slit your wrist
and let your demons bleed
as he pushes the razor closer
looking at the razor and looking at him
is today the day I give in
is the time now or is the fight worth it
grasping the razor my hand shaking
just one line he growls and ill leave
lies I have heard many times
one line now two now three
one more can not hurt he encourages
one last time that makes four
tears rolling down my face
what I have done I screamed
today I lost the battle maybe the war
tomorrow may be the same who knows
as for today I lost the facoff
