Junoon

Junoon

A Poem by David Benson
"

Junoon is an Urdu word meaning "love/obsession to the point of insanity."

"

She arrived as a verse from the sky,

seven colored with a whisper's touch.

Tell me where this wild wind leads: Touch

the sky with obsession, and verse me

in the seven colors of reverence.

Wild whispers gather obsession

under seven colored skies and howl.

Life and death are obsessions. Apart from this

there is no peace. Let me rest

in your lap until death.

This is a beautiful poem David... "She arrived as a verse from the sky" The very first line sets some lovely imagery in the readers mind, I was hooked straight away. Great write!

This particular obsession is beautifully told - each line resonates, but these really strike a chord with me:
Tell me where this wild wind leads: Touch
the sky with obsession, and verse me

in the seven colors of reverence.

Seven is the number of perfection is it not? Clever. Gentle, yet desperate.

Beautifully written! I am not sure I know what the "seven colors" alludes to though. Perhaps this is something I should know?

Wow David,,, This one really talks to me, and I like how it took me to the bounds of love's obsessions of hearts wanting to be nowhere other than in the peaceful lap of love's embrace until death do they part. May death not bind lover's souls apart, but rather bask them in the forgiving light of love everlasting...

Great Write!
RLG,
Tommy
