Manure

Manure

A Poem by Dave Brown
"

across the meadow

"

The smell of manure

Not a bad smell

But a good smell

The scent of years of memories

Recalling

An old wooden barn

On an old poor man’s

Farm

Gone now, except for memories

That still wander

Cross the fields of

It’ll come one day hay

To where colts

Frisked and played

To where we laughed

And we lay

All gone now that day

Bulldozers have come

Dust blocks out the sun

Now nowhere to run

Cross the meadow
