Bored Jack

Bored Jack

A Poem by Dave Brown

lousy TV

Jack was feeling bored these days

In spite of TV’s shooting and killing

So he went to the war buying store

Where service was more than willing

There was the introductory war

A sort of ‘try it and see if you like it’

It had a fairly minimal amount of gore

If you enjoyed, they could easily spike it

Jack opted for the ultra major conflict

With real time nuclear consequences

He’d had to use his mother’s credit card

Because of the nuclear expenses

The manager applauded his choice

He had nearly purchased that same conflict

But unable to steal his mother’s Mastercard

He had ended up, instead being quite ticked

Jack felt he’d probably need an army

That had more than one launching pad

For sure, when his mother saw her Visa bill

She would be some kinda super mad

Next month, in his bedroom, on his computer

He emailed directions for the nuclear blast

Because of the anticipated ultracomslamplosionism

The present would soon be the past

His nuclear force commander pressed red buttons

But the expected total destruction had failed

Because of a mix-up on month end billing

His Mother’s Visa payment, had never been mailed
