One Night

One Night

A Poem by Dave Brown

movin and a-groovin

About to just sit one night

I heard the strangest sound

At about half-way down

I stopped moving toward the ground

It sounded like a rock band

With the music loudly playin

And I'm sure I heard

A sweet voice also slayin

My chair had been liftin

To the sound of the beat

Then it slipped up right under me

And took me swingin down the street

We stopped at a street corner

To where a crowd was flockin

A rock band had the street vibratin

And all the people were rockin

They were playin Boogie Woogie

Chalypso and Jive

Mashed Potato, Hully Gully

The place was alive

Rockabilly on the freeway

And in the parkin lots, they Bopped

From Rock and Roll to Loco-Motion

The music never stopped

My chair Jitterbugged

While I did the Twist

Then we Hully Gullied home again

At the end of the dance list
