It isn't You

It isn't You

A Poem by Dave Brown

When the Sun rises each golden morn

And that great fiery orb comes into view

Though its wonder heats gentle heavens above

It isn’t you

When the hummingbird sips nectar’s sweet drip

While a million wingbeats dry morning’s dew

Though each flower petal lends bee’s honey kisses

It isn’t you

When a light cloud blushes at all beauties sight

Neath the bright heaven’s far reaching purview

Though its magic spreads through gentle’s light

It isn’t you

When a million star’s blossom into night’s sky

With milky way reflections of rose petal’s hue

Though the star system sings to soft’s angel

It isn’t you

A Japanese maple with leaves palmate lobed

A paint brush rendering of nature’s pursue

Though gently decorated is each delicate limb

It isn’t you

A jewel filled oak chest sparkling bright

With sapphires radiating fables blue

Though it be worth both moons and stars

It isn’t you

I have only the voice that a poet can speak

Which cries out for love that is true

And waits in expectation, no matter how long

For only you
