Moments Together

Moments Together

A Poem by Dave Brown

I noticed Sally had gained a few pounds

She was looking much rounder and full

They were spending more time together

I realized now she was not on the pill

We both should have been watching

Each of them were simply too young

Careful how I approached the situation

No need for a slip of the tongue

That time together since she was a babe

For some reason we’d had not had ‘the’ talk

But with the obvious signs now showing

We would all be involved in ‘the’ walk

A week later she had eight wee puppies

Her large brown eyes burbled with joy

Each attached to a warm tummies n****e

Seven girls and one little boy

I love the way this twisted my perspective from an "uh oh" moment to an "aw for Pete's sake" revelation. This was really funny and fun; a great read that brought a smile
