A Poem by Dave Brown

soft sound

When day’s light was spent

Taking brightness from sky

It had purposely left behind

Each twinkle in your each eye

To brightly shine neath night’s moon

That we enjoy our chance

Enmeshed in its gentle glow

To share magic of romance

As night’s light dancing reflections

Join moon beams in flow

I'll bathed in your love light

Sipping each drop of afterglow

Evening became our orchestra

With its crescendo being crowned

Until quiet flight of fireflies

Became last of night’s soft sound

One of my most favorite songs is called Fireflies. I was so drawn to this piece. The imagery is beautiful and pulled me in so warmly. It sounds like such a wonderful and dream filled night. Thank you for sharing.

This is an excellent way to use nature imagery to tell a story & to describe feelings without actually putting everything into the words of romance. Even tho this is simply stated, I love the romantic way this line is expressed: "As I bathed in your love light sipping each drop very slow" . . . I think fireflies is an apt metaphor becuz their light often feels like it's flickering or barely-there . . . this is also how love can feel, flickering between the lightly romantic moments & the ongoing daily drudgery (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
