Eagle Eye

Eagle Eye

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

watching

"

An Eagle with a keen eye

Sitting top of pole

Saw two very careful eyes

Peeking out a hole

Eagle did not move at all

And held himself in check

Because the small head with those two eyes

Was not much more than a spec

Further forth ventured

A tasty rodent feeling bolder

But when that Eagle flew down

That rodent got no older

Eagles do have amazing eyes! I call my hubby "Eagle eye" because he spots thing on the ground that I would never see, like recently a $20 bill; the battle of the Eagle and the Rodent; sorry for that poor old rodent; his life am to a quick end. Nice tale, and well rhymed too.
Best, Betty

that's the kind of hubby to hang on to whether on not he rhymes
have a good day
If Kurt Vonnegut were alive and read this poem, I'm sure he'd say his famous line, "And so it goes."
And he'd be giggling - like I am right now.

Down here, the bird of prey we most often see sitting in a tree like that is the hawk. Same thing, though smaller and a little less majestic. Makes one glad to not be a mouse. (It would be fun to scare women and make them jump on a chair, however)

I like this one. i love the expression at the last line. I had the honor of seeing a bald eagle swoop and catch a fish once. It was majestic.

yes watching nature is definitely all quite a treat
enjoy
I once saw a hawk fly into the thick branches of a pine tree and fly back out with a chipmunk. How it managed to navigate through the branches, grab the rodent and turn around is beyond me. Another good work. Then ending made me laugh.

Two eyes very careful, but not careful enough, although the odds were against it with the eagle's keen eye. I enjoyed this poem - the wonder of nature, even though not good from the mouse's perspective!

The unenviable life of a mouse
This was really good. It was short and cute (though not so good for the mouse). Good job!

Yes, the mouse's life is hardly worth existing
Lighthearted and fun. I like it!
