Family matters

Family matters

A Chapter by Dave Brown

left hanging

There's a birdhouse hanging

From a branch on a tree

In which two parents undertook

To produce a family

Fourteen days later

Chicks would appear

And the demands of dear little ones

Was all that parents would hear

After sixteen days of nesting

The little ones left the nest

With the next thing to face

Is passing their flying test

While that was taking place

They were parent fed all day long

And only after they’d learned to fly

Could their parent’s relax to sing song

The birdhouse then, with service done

Was left to wait for a year

Until the sound of babies born

Would again, be what it would hear

Aw this is so sweet. Many birds return to the same place each year to nest. We don:t have birdhouses, but we do have trees where our avian friends build their shelter, rear their young until the whole cycle starts again. Isn:t it reassuring that the birds will return Dave?
