Thumbin a Ride

Thumbin a Ride

A Chapter by Dave Brown

a repeat

She had her thumb out

As I was driving by

And I didn’t think it would hurt a bit if I

Just stopped to say, “Hi!”

I was going that way anyway

Would she like a ride

She flashed a huge smile at me

As she hopped inside

She was going straight down 59th street

And since the night’s air

Had her feelin extra beat

There was a café late open there

Where she could get off her feet

And it had a menu which advertised

Lotsa good stuff to eat

I thought this could be my chance

To move on in

But she was some kina looker

And I knew my chances were pretty thin

But still, I ordered for both

Cuz I had an extra buck

And if I didn’t display a bit of class

I wouldn’t have no kind of luck

The menu

Was worth coming through the door

And after I’d had a view

I coulda bought out all a-tha store

Then the waiter brought us wine

The vintage, I think it was a 64

Didn’t matter cuz, after a drink or few

I couldn’t remember no more

When I woke up again

It was in my back seat

Still couldn’t remember

Bout if I’d had or hadn’t anything to eat

I started to pull myself up

To get back on my feet

Till I felt a soft hand rest on my shoulder

And a soft voice saying

“I’d like a repeat!”

very nice rhyming poem. it's cute and kinda romantic and it must have been a successful evening if she's asking for seconds
