Somethin Fishy

Somethin Fishy

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

A sorry story

"

Laying longside the river bank

Basking in the joy of the stream

Could life offer any more pleasure

All like part of a dream

A tiny morsel is drifting toward me

Gently lit by a sunbeam

I open my mouth and swallow

And then I can’t help a loud scream

A hook was embedded in it

And I’ve swallowed it whole

Its gone well down past my stomach

Lodging into my very soul

I am yanked out of the water

Screaming and gasping in air

I try to swim off the hard bank

But I’m getting nowhere

A woman approaches with a club

This could be the end of my story

She hammers me dead on the head

And doesn’t even say, “I’m sorry!”
