The Grand Hotel

The Grand Hotel

A Chapter by Dave Brown

building stairs

In the Kingdom of Buttbigabeam

Pon the very highest mountain top

The Grand Hotel had been built from which

It was an extremely long drop

The view was of the wide world

Stretching from great sea to great sea

Contact was made by semaphore flag

As this area had been declared cell-free

How the good folk got there

Nary a single soul ever knewed

But for those who behaved badly

T’was over the edge they were flewed

Such as Countess, Madam Malravie

Expecting unspeakable favors each day

And wouldn’t settle her bill, until, so

Over the edge, was sent on her way

Non-compliant, over-edgers, eventually

Created a very large stack of bleached bones

And tho’ the great majority were well-deceased

Ongoing, there were some ear-racking groans

These were thoughtfully stairway rearranged

By the pock-marked, bow-tied, engineer

Who wore a voluminous red moustache

Stretching from ear-ringed ear to ear-ringed ear

Partaking of pineapple pizza on the protruding patio

In his mind, he designed each stair tread

Finishing the very last bony step, it had been said

Just as he also finished being very well fed

But constant climbing over brittle bones

Undermined the Grand Hotel's flimsy foundation

It crumbled, crashing into the valley below

Barely lasting for this poem’s duration

Aww, was want to go when lock down ends, in about 2026. I calls and Internet would be like living in my own episode of fantasy island.
Ps.. I'm now wondering if a semaphore poem could be the next visual poem craze 😊
