A Little Ride

flying high


When I woke this morn

And was about to rise

An Eagle landed on my window sill

Which was a surprise

Then it smiled at me

And looked into my eyes

To ask if I would like to take

A ride through sunny skies


I immediately got suspicious

Cuz Eagles just can’t talk

And about this riding thing

My reaction was to balk

But for sure this Eagle

Was more substantial than a Hawk

And going for a fly

Beat going for a walk


So off we flew together

Past our parking lot

A thrilling mode of travel

I initially thought

Over the peninsula

And past a mega-yacht

Till we got to her

Special nesting spot

And here partook

A thickening of the plot

As I was dropped down to her fledgling chicks

That all ate me on the spot

And I hope it was indigestion

That they all got

I never trust those birds of prey.
Sweet chicks like myself must be wary of vultures, hawks, eagles and such.
