Waiting for Fame

Waiting for Fame

A Chapter by Dave Brown

While waiting for fame to arrive

Which obviously, would shortly take place

I thought I would more slightly detail my image

Even tho’ I now was the hallmark of grace

It was my wave that I felt might improve

My adoring public would expect only the best

And the necessity of ever constant waving

Would be a bit of a hand/arm thingy type test

And the hand, whether palm out or palm in

And finger height, above or below eye level

These very many considerations

Were going to be a bit of a devil

The full-length mirror was my greatest aid

For practice waving at those common folk

I fully realized they would constantly swarm me

Really, all that adoration was quite a joke

Finally, with all the details in place

All fine tuned with a stunningly handsome stare

Putting in my teeth, I casualized to the front door

And flung it open,

Flashed both my fabulous smile and grand wave

To shockingly find

Not one single soul there
