A Little Bird

A Little Bird

A Chapter by Dave Brown

A little bird came flying by

To ask, why was it such a strain

That when he tried to fly ahead

He was just blown back again

And on top of that, he said

It was a mental drain

And, that life for him

Had become an endless pain

I told him about mankind

And his endless pollution

And how there didn’t seem to be

Any unified solution

How profit seemed to make

All else a total stranger

And how commerce and industry

Had left our atmosphere in danger

Like the rest of us who watch it all

As forests burn and great trees fall

When we think we’re flying ahead

We’re really flying backward instead
