Fools Gold

Fools Gold

A Chapter by Dave Brown

The cold nights persist

And my heart can’t warm

She stole all the good parts

The remainder is torn

Just moonlight on the pillow

Where she had once lain her face

Now that night light

Shows an empty space

Once we drifted with clouds

And danced through stars

But my fall from her heaven

Just left open scars

What use is a body

With no heart to hold

Once filled with passion

But now just fool’s gold
