Three Poets

Three Poets

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Three poets passing down the long the road

Walking side by side

The one in the middle was doing the talking

The other two just keeping stride

The question he asked was how

How could they keep forming rhymes

When they had already composed ten thousand

Could it possibly happen even one more time

As though no word had been said

They carried on in silence

Each poet searched through his mind

Looking for a modicum of guidance

One poet stopped, looked to the sky

There a small bird just flying by

Another looked out to the sea

Whales and porpoise swimming there free

And that violin hanging on the wall

Certainly deserves a poetic call

The third poet thought of his lover

She deserved at least one other

Perhaps ten thousand wasn’t the ceiling

With so many more possibilities

And all so appealing

Hopefully I'm under my ten-thousand limit . . . but for you, this tally is way different. You make up so many words, not to mention sprinkling Sasquatch idioms here & there . . . I'm pretty sure you'll be generating brand new rhymes well beyond the point when the rest of us rhymers are deep in a sloggy BC pasture (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
