Progress

Progress

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

yes

"

A small cabin on a quiet street

A country garden, prim and neat

Tall trees which frame this retreat

DEMOLISHED FOR A CONDO

A quiet country road wandering

Alongside a burbling stream

Where deer and fawn are often seen

RIPPED UP FOR A FREEWAY

A quiet country corner store

With a pretty pink front door

Where folks have met for evermore

FLATTENED FOR A SHOPPING MALL

A deep valley which nature blessed

With bees that buzz and birds that nest

A million trees that have stood the test

HACKED DOWN FOR A SUBDIVISION

That which was and is no more

A stand of trees, a country store

That which used to mark our core

RAPED FOR PROGRESS

If it ain’t a parkinlot

It ain’t paradise
