The Thin Bridge

The Thin Bridge

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Trying to cross the thin bridge

Wild water rages beneath

They are coming, coming from behind

But a slip could cause fatal grief

Freezing cold, there is ice

The bridge seems like a trap

She starts endless screaming

I give her a backhanded slap

Now howls are haunting our ears

Like mad banshees running wild free

We have to cross the bridge now

Unstable as it may be

I push her, push her across

She slips, is swept out to sea

Before I can move I am swarmed

The mad horde is gorging on me

That suddenly wakes me

And I’m in a super sweat

I knew when I ate those pistachio nuts

It’d be something that I’d regret
